Welcome to the web site of the Glenmoriston Arms Hotel based in Loch Ness, on the road to the Isle of Skye. Located in the Scottish Highlands or as we like it to be known “Our Highland Home”, which it could also be for you should you decide to stay with us during your time in Scotland.   The original hotel built on this site dates back from 1740, 6 years before the battle of Culloden when the building was originally a drover’s inn, a stop over point for farmers taking their cattle to and from market.
Parts of this original Scottish Hotel remain today which form the Moriston bar and also the reception area with granite walls 3-4 feet thick making hanging wallpaper a nightmare and terrible if we try to hang a picture!!   It has carved itself in the history of Loch Ness as being the meeting place for Johnstone & Boswell when they charted their journey to the Hebrides and also a favourite haunt for Charlie Chaplin in the 1930’s when actors and actresses of the time wanted a little peace and relaxation in the Highlands. Gavin Maxwell the author of the book “Ring of bright water”  also stayed here whilst he finished the book, and then returned a few years later accompanied by Princess Margaret who was presenting him with an award. so, you will certainly be amongst good company staying here!
	Its location as we say is perfect for your Scottish Break and has made us popular with guests worldwide as the ideal base to explore the entire Highlands and Islands of this beautiful yet unspoilt area. We are located on the main Loch Side road (A82) from Inverness to Fort William and the junction of the road to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye (A887/87) the latter of these roads being recently voted as the most beautiful in the UK .     From the moment you walk in to the Hotel our guests have remarked on the warm welcome they have received with the bar area being a popular destination understandably, considering we have a selection of over 150 Single Malts.
With an open fire and freshly cooked wholesome meals, a restaurant where you can enjoy  romantic evenings plus a wine menu to please most connoisseurs, people here often comment that they do not want to leave. The bar and restaurant has a distinctly Scottish feel with Grant Tartan carpet adorning the rooms, antique rifles on the walls and memorabilia from days gone by there really is a cosy atmosphere.
