Upon entering the Hotel, everyone heads to the bar….not a bad thing!! The first
thing that greets you is the doorframe, crooked and leaning toward the front of
the Hotel, it’s not surprising as it has
stood there since 1740 and with the reception forms the origins of the Hotel.

When you enter tartan carpet sumptuously greets your feet and warms you on a cold day and makes you smile inside after your tiring days activities . The tartan is specially woven and is Grant after the owners of Glenmoriston Estate, whom owned the lands for many centuries.

The Grant family owned the Hotel for a couple of hundred years until 1985 when it was sold into private enterprise, but it cannot forget its history and many references to the Grant family remain in the Hotel today.
The fire is lit, the bar greets you with its array of 150 Single Malt whiskies, the theme of the bar is most definitely Scottish Whisky(Scotland`s water of life). Whether it be one of the readily available malts such as Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich or Bruichladdich to the rare malts of a Strathisla 1949, a Lochside 1981 or a St Magdelene Linlithgow one of only 247 bottles ever made. From £1.95 a shot (or nip) to £75.00 just don’t put coke in one…(it happened once), savour them or just wonder in awe as many people do they say that there is a malt for everyone, it has been proved on more than one occasion you could be next!!!

An old stags head looks over you as you enter. Affectionately
known as Angus , the guardian of the bar, for over 100 years, an old bill from 1891 and an order from the Hotel to Josiah Wedgewood from 1792 adorn the walls as well as whisky memorabilia from past and present, this is the meeting point for locals and visitors alike, this is what the Highlands and the Hotel is famed for its Highland      Hospitality!!

So if you enjoy real ale, malt whisky, fine wine and good home cooked food, we are right for you.

The Moriston Bar is all about, feeling relaxed and safe, let your feet take a break if you are walking, a respite from the road if you are driving or a place to blether (talk) and spend time with each other and if you are alone don’t worry there’s always someone to talk to….you will never feel a stranger,  in the Moriston Bar.
